# API access and limits

> Which Clara plans include API access, the call allowance per plan, and the one-time API trial.

This page mirrors the **API-relevant part** of Clara's plans — which plan unlocks the API, the monthly price, and the call allowance — in a form agents and tools can read. Everything else (bundled features, card fees, credit terms) lives on the market pricing pages linked at the end.

## API access by plan

API access starts at **Pro**. Above that, the difference is the call volume and the surrounding features (custom integrations, custom reports), which are scoped with Clara's sales team per account.

**Last verified:** 2026-10-26. The market pricing pages are the source of truth — if this page and a pricing page disagree, the pricing page wins.

## Free API trial

Clara offers a one-time trial of **500 API calls** so a team can evaluate the API before committing to a plan.

* It does **not** renew: when the 500 calls are used, the trial ends. It is not a monthly quota.
* You activate it yourself, with no sales contact: open **Integrations → Clara API** in the Clara dashboard and create a project.

## Usage limits

Every response carries `X-RateLimit-Burst-Capacity`, `X-RateLimit-Replenish-Rate`, `X-RateLimit-Remaining`, and `X-RateLimit-Requested-Tokens` — see [Authentication](https://developers.clara.team/authentication.md#rate-limiting). Requests are also counted against the plan's monthly allowance; check the Insights screen in the dashboard for consumed vs. remaining calls.

If a plan's allowance is not enough, the path is a conversation with the Clara account team, not a self-serve upgrade of the quota.
